NJ Winter Engagement, Deana & Santi

When I began my search for a photographer to take photos of my husband and I, I was looking for someone who could capture real moments. I found that and even more with Jess.

Jess was so eager and open to every idea we had for the shoot. She scouted the location, gave us feedback on the outfits we were going to wear, and really brought a creative edge to our photos. She picked this beautiful quiet main street in northern NJ. We felt so comfortable just being ourselves and having fun with it. She was so encouraging and positive throughout the entire shoot. We had a blast working with her.

Our photos are even more beautiful than we could have imagined. Jess used amazing angles and gorgeous coloring to make our photos perfect. We really hope to work with her again in the future. Thank you so much, Jess! You are amazingly talented!
— Deana & Santi

Congrats to Deana & Santi! I’m so happy they chose me as their photographer, I had fun photographing their engagement session. They had an intimate ceremony already, and will be renewing their vows at their wedding in January 2022. They’ll be using these photos for their save the dates, so it seemed appropriate to do photos in the winter as well. We decided to take the photos on Spring Street in Newton, NJ. It’s a perfect spot for a couples session because it’s a cute, quiet main street in a small rustic town. It was a warm day for mid December and holiday decorations hung in windows and on street lamps. Deana’s velvet green dress and Santi’s matching black velvet jacket really brought out the festive vibes. It was sunny and beautiful outside. The energy between Deana and Santi was amazing and I barely gave them any direction at all. I was able to just take a step back, observe and take photos of the two of them just being. That’s my absolute favorite way to do couples sessions- exploring a place together, having some laughs and photographing all of the moments you weren’t expecting. I also tried to really push my creative boundaries and step outside of my comfort zone with this engagement session. I think it’s really important to step outside of your comfort zone, especially with photography. I feel myself improving and growing each time I try something different. I will never stop pushing myself with my art. I can’t wait to look back on this a few years from now and see just how much my work has evolved. I hope everyone has a lovely New Year and enjoys these last few days of the decade.
