Downtown NJ Pre-wedding Engagement

One of my absolute favorite things to do is take pre-wedding and pre-elopement engagement photos. These were taken in downtown Summit, NJ. An absolute fav of mine for date night and for cute af photos like these. I love all of the small towns NJ has to offer and this cute as heck diner in the middle of Summit. It really gives the photos more of romantic and cinematic feel. Especially taken in my photojournalistic / artistic / documentary style.

I offer engagement sessions with all of my collections for a few reasons:

  • Dedicating a time to meet face to face before your wedding or elopement day is huge for making us feel more comfortable with each other. And for getting to know each other a little better! I will be documenting an important moment in your life, after all.

  • Having me photograph you prior to your wedding day also helps you to get use to being on camera, and gets you feeling good about having me creep around.

  • Engagement photos give us an opportunity to be more creative and for the two of you to be more authentically you. Often during a wedding day you are on a strict timeline (depending on what your plans are) and you have friends/family all around you. It can bring an added pressure regardless of how relaxed your day is. But with engagement photos, we can take our time and we can take time to bring out your personalities a bit more.

  • It’s a really fun reason to dress up with your partner and go on a date night!!

These were their pre-wedding complimentary photos. I’m looking forward to more engagement sessions and portraits this year. They are so fun!

Some frequently asked questions about engagement sessions

  • Are engagement sessions the same as proposals?

No, they’re different! For a proposal I would be, for example, hiding somewhere with my camera trying to blend in while you ask your partner to spend their life with you. And then after discreetly taking photos from far away, we’d have an engagement session immediately following.

  • What are the purpose of engagement sessions?

Besides having fun with your partner and getting awesome photos- people love to use them to use them to announce their wedding date or add them to the invitations/wedding site.

  • Do we have to book you for a wedding to get engagement photos?

Nope! You can book me for engagement photos as a stand alone. Sometimes people will use that as a way to “test the water” and see if we have good enough chemistry for me to be there on your wedding day.
