Diona + Rex’s In-home Session

Diona (of Ista) is an incredibly talented artist and musician. She does her own illustrations, 2D animations, and is in two bands. One of them is a band with her and Rex, Ista. Another band is the Lovenauts. Both bands are now in my On Repeat on Spotify, because they are freaking amazing. I’ve been a fan of Diona’s art for some time now and hit her up initially. But when she reached out to me to take her family / pregnancy photos— I had a fan girl moment.

Their in-home session was so beautiful and fun with their son Emmit playing drums while Rex and Diona proudly watched. We listened to Kunzite on their record player while we sat in front of it. Their record player was the perfect backdrop for this beautiful and talented family. I am so grateful I was able to make art with them, they are so sweet and kind. So many talented artists and muscians come from NJ, I couldn’t be prouder.

I’m heavily inspired by live music and was going for nostalgic, vintage, yet funky when I created these photos. Somewhere in-between the MGMT Electric Feel music video and Lisa Frank. I used SX-70 film for the polaroids.
